(n/t) (ray mejia) (13-Feb-01 04:06:12) Ray, 300 ft/lbs of torque is a very large amount, at what RPM is this?............ (n/t) (Greg Ward) (13-Feb-01 07:55:20) Re: not torque related but et vs.rules (Muffler Mike) (13-Feb-01 09:42:57) The rules say a six point roll bar for 11.99 and quicker with approved seatbelts and a jacket. Once you go quicker than 9.99 a full cage, suit, collar, window net, and LICENSE are required. There are also a host of mechanical requirements, perhaps even chassis certification. I know our old Mopar got bounced from 9.90 competition because the chassis tubing was .010 too thin. (n/t) (Mike Lawless) (13-Feb-01 13:38:38) Kewl Ray enjoy and be safe..mls (TheRealMyles) (13-Feb-01 09:52:32) What's your displacement? Aspirated? Turbo or supercharger? 300 ft. lbs. is very healthy indeed... (n/t) (george brown) (13-Feb-01 10:18:39) I'm thinking high 10's at @ 120's MPH maybe possible. What modifications were made this time around? I remember when you had that Demon installed a few months back but the cam was wrong or something. What's been done this time around? Anyway, MMike has a good point about the NHRA Rules>>>MORE (Paul) (13-Feb-01 10:53:48) You have to have a scattersheild! I run all of the NHRA sactioned stuff I can and they do check for it. I was checked at Phoenix once also at Bug O Rama. All turbo VW's and Porsches must have a scattershield that extends 1" behind and 1" in front of the flywheel and must be made out of 1/4" thick steel minimum. I make my own and its not too hard except where the clutch throwout shaft is. You also better put in a window net Ray. (n/t) (Marty) (13-Feb-01 11:47:43) Is that a shield that wraps around the existing bellhousing, like a trans shield, or is it something that completely replaces the bellhousing, requiring machining? (n/t) (Mike Lawless) (13-Feb-01 13:54:46) Re: Is that a shield that wraps around the existing bellhousing, like a trans shield, or is it something that completely replaces the bellhousing, requiring machining? (n/t) (13-Feb-01 14:44:24) Yes thats exactly what it is, a trans shield, wraps around existing bell housing. (n/t) (Muffler Mike) (13-Feb-01 14:45:59) Hay Marty (Muffler Mike) (13-Feb-01 14:43:28) Well put it this way... We will all find out if you can drive or not !!! Crawford builds POWER !!! (n/t) (REILLY) (13-Feb-01 14:11:12) Mike, it does not say that it has to meet any SFI spec only that it be 1/4" steel minimum. I think that is because nobody makes them for a VW. The way they are to mount is also vague and can be interpereted two ways - bolted to the bellhousing with grade 8 bolts or welded to the chassis. I weld mine to the chassis and have never failed a tech inspection. (n/t) (Marty) (13-Feb-01 15:21:00) Hey Ray. You about ready for a race? (n/t) (Marty) (13-Feb-01 15:22:48) Re: Marty motor is in for now still making some modification should be running by next wetek ,going to GLAMIS to take my turbo 2074 sandrail out for a test run (n/t) (ray mejia) (13-Feb-01 15:48:36) Cool Ray! Wait till you run your first 10 second pass. Its a whole new ballgame. (n/t) (Marty) (13-Feb-01 17:02:47) wrong builder (16-Feb-01 02:00:47)

Hay Ray.

I really need to get a recent nhra rule book, but what I can interpret from my 91 book and what I have been told in tech (because I asked) is when running 11.99 and faster and turbo or supercharged, they will require a flywheel scatter shield. It would be a good idea to verify before going to phoenix only to find out you can’t run. Any one have a recent rule book?? I will be trying to look it up my self. But have plans to have one already.

You don't want to get kicked off the track after only one run. Do you run with the decklid on? I am pretty sure for 10's you will need a cage, 5pt. harness, fire jacket, sufficient braking system (4 wheel disk will suffice), possible external shut off switch, maybe a window net, laundry if you're going 150, and an escape hatch with the push of a button always helps! HA HA. I don't have the book either but I would be interested to see what the rules are if someone could post them. Can't wait to see the ghia run. Good Luck Ray!

on the scatter shield, do you know off the top of your head if its supose to meet the sfi 30.1 or will the sfi 4.1 do, such as a trans blanket?

I need to get me a new rule book.
