Weber help? Wednesday, 31-May-2000 01:53:58 209.156.221.206 writes: I am building a blow threw turbo for my 1776 motor. Since I can't afford an EFI system, I am going to use a single 40mm weber for my project. How do I turn my weber into a blow threw turbo carb. Can I buy one already done? It seems like all the people who deal with turbo systems now (CB Performance, Turbo City) only sell EFI kits. They act like you can't do it with a carb. In the Turbomania book it shows how to drill the carb and put o-rings around the shaft to seal it up. Please anybody help me out. Matt

Single Weber?? you probably want to go draw-thru. Contact Kawell....he advertises in HotVW, he can fix you up with a side draft 40 weber DCOE. (n/t) (Derrick from NC) (31-May-2000 07:16:37)

A lot of different carbs can be used for this but side draft 2 barrel (DCOE style) is really the easiest to adapt. Be sure that whoever you get the turbo from sells you one with a carbon seal on the compressor side to stop oil from leaking into your intake under vacuum. Carburetors are made to meter fuel into air under atmospheric pressure, and if you pressurize the air going in (increase density) as with blow-through system, you have to trick the carb into increasing fuel delivery in proportion to inlet air pressure. This requires extra complication and is always a compromise. Good luck with your motor. Tracy G
