Well, I finally got my narrowed front end installed along with the Dropped spindles. Except now when I go to put on the tie rod ends, they

seem to bottom out before the front wheels come into align. They were each shortened 1.5" for the 3" narrowed beam. Any suggestions?

Appreciate all you guys help!

Thanks

You can take the rods to a machine shop and have the threads run deeper into the rods.Make sure that they realize that the rods have left

and right hand threads. You can also cut 3/4 of an inch off each tie rod end but try the machine shop first....Much Safer.I really dont like

cutting the tie rods myself.

You might just need to run a 14mm RHT tap in one end...when you shortened them, did you make sure you cut the RH thread end? On my

car, I only narrowed the beam 2", but substituted a regular tie rod end for the steering damper end so I wouldn't need to cut the tie rod

down.

The shop that did the narrowing of the beam did the tie rods as well. The shortened both of them.

Thanks for the feedback.

Did they cut off the ends and re-tap them deeper? Or did they cut them and remove some metal and weld them back together? Sounds like

"they" didn't do something right.

When I did mine , I did the later, using a rod (plug)inside the tie rod, vee'd and welded. Also had a couple of holes that got the rod

welded to the "plug" 2" inches away from the cut. Everything fit great. The alignement shop was amazed at how easy everything turned,

didn't need a pipe wrench on my powder coated parts!
